To this!!!!!!!!P1020282Living in North Carolina for 9 + years afforded me the chance to sample all kinds of great BBQ.  Visits to see Micah in Texas found me seeking out even more BBQ.  I love it all.  Imagine my excitement when I realized that I could make some myself in the comfort of my little ole’ home with the help of my crockpot and 3 –count them on one hand—-ingredients.   It features the favorite beverage of son number 2 whose 26th birthday arrives next week.  So in honor of Aaron—-Slow Cooker Pulled Pork.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

1  2 pound pork tenderloin or pork butt roast

1 12 ounce can root beer

1 18 ounce jar BBQ sauce (this is where you can make it taste exactly like YOU want by selecting the right sauce)

1. Place tenderloin or roast in slow cooker.  Pour root beer over meat.

2. Cook on low till the meat shreds easily with a fork–usually 6-7 hours.

3.  Drain well . Shred meat (I use 2 forks to shred.)  Stir in BBQ sauce and serve over buns.  Can you say EASY and YUMMY?P1020281

  1. Love pulled pork! Root beer, who would have thought?

  2. We were just talking about making pulled pork this weekend. I think this is a good Sunday supper project!

    • Put it in the crock pot and leave it! The great thing is that you can make it whatever style you like- by adding the sauce that you like the best. Last year for a picnic I made a bunch and had one with the vinegar based sauce and one with the sweet smokey sauce and it was a huge hit!
