Now That’s Whimsical

Some of my fun North Iowa Bloggers and I attempted to be crafty the other night.  Some of us succeeded perhaps a little bit better than others but we all had fun and that was what the whole evening was about. You might remember me writing about visiting the Carlson Christmas Tree Farm back when I was posting about our Franklin County Harvest Bloggers Tour in the fall this year.  It was one place that we stopped on our first night to enjoy some fabulous food and conversation.  Oh yes--the … [Read more...]

My Favorite Things Week—MeMe Miracle’s World of Crafting

Some of you know that I have a Cricut and use it to make a variety of things but mainly use it to make greeting cards.  There are so many different ways to use a Cricut and today's giveaway features a crafting friend who has mastered the technique for using vinyl fabulously.  Rebecca (Becky) Miracle is my sister Paula's childhood BFF and continuing BFF.  She has many gifts and talents but at the moment she is using her creative side and is offering several unique and wonderful items through her … [Read more...]

From Kermit to Cookies

Whew.  I am exhausted.  Mind you I don't have much to be exhausted about.  Other than that pesky getting the house ready to sell  thing which aside from being a lot of work is a tad bit emotional. I love this house. I love our animal friends that come to visit our yard. I love our deck. I love our neighbors even if their yard always looks a bazillion times better than ours. I love finding treasures when I clean out the closets that are filled to the max. I could very easily … [Read more...]

Blog Hop Around the World

I was invited by the wonderful Patti Jarrett from A New Day Dawns to join in the fun of a Blog Hop Around the World.  I told her I would join in but as I write this I am not sure how great of a post it will be.  Typical Beth Ann fashion---I jump in and say yes without really thinking it through but I will give it a good ole try. I guess the hardest thing for me was to think about what "creative" thing I wanted to focus on in this post.  I do a bit of writing, a bit of photography and a bit of … [Read more...]

From Prom Dress to Headboard–Repurposing Art in Clear Lake

It is all the rage these days it seems.  Repurposing old items into something new.  It is what my parents and certainly grandparents called normal.   It was not uncommon for them to recycle items and re-purpose them for another use.  Sometimes it was because of a brilliant idea but more often than not it was as a result of having to make do with something or doing without. I was intrigued when I saw in the local paper, the Globe Gazette, an article featuring an exhibit on display at the Clear … [Read more...]

“Expert” Advice

I am "scarfily" challenged.   What that means is that try as I might I can never seem to make the pretty scarves that I have hanging in my closet look anything like other people make them look.  I love the look of adding a scarf to just accessorize and dress up an outfit but I have tried all of those Pinterest ideas and mine just don't turn out looking anything like the pictures.  Until now! I found a great You Tube video via Cinch.  If you have never heard of Cinch it is a fairly new social … [Read more...]

To Market We Go!

Did you ever find a business that drew you in and invited you to become part of their family?   I feel that way about Market 124 located at 124 North Delaware in Mason City, Iowa.   Katie Wold and her husband, Dave, bought the former Olde Central Antique Mall and renovated the space to highlight the original space that boasts exposed concrete columns and the original concrete and tile floor. Those coupled with the  high ceilings and blocked glass windows lend to a welcoming area for local … [Read more...]

36 Down — 614 To Go

If I have been AWOL lately it is because I have a new project.  One that is consuming me until I feel like I have it under control.  I am woman possessed.  More so than usual. As some of you know I am a volunteer for Hospice of North Iowa.  I love what they do.  As a volunteer I have been able to have 2 "relationships" with women at the end of life.  The one lady was unusual as I was her volunteer for over a year.   Volunteers can do many things with Hospice and when I moved back to Ohio … [Read more...]

Hilary from Feeling Beachie hosts a blog hop every Friday where we get to fill in answers to statements on our own blogs and share. This week I am the co host which sounds really important, doesn't it?   Just means I came up with a couple of statements to help her out.  If you have any good ones let her know by emailing her at hilary@feelingbeachie.com. She would love to hear from you! The statements are::  I am so___________for my ________________. ______________me, I … [Read more...]

A Day Woven in My Memory

This summer brought many trips and excursions and time with family and friends.  Looking back I realize I have hardly posted anything about much of them at all.  I don't want to bombard your inboxes with blog posts so I have held back.  Today join me as I remember my trip with my pal, Sal, earlier this summer to Columbus, Ohio and for our day exploring all things Longaberger.  It was a great day spent wandering the grounds of the Longaberger Homestead and Dresden. The same store … [Read more...]
