Slightly Savory Saturday

I love a good crockpot meal.  I love the ease and the convenience of sticking something in it in the morning and having it all done for dinner later without any fuss.  If you are like me you will love this recipe because it is super easy and yummy.

First off—you need to have a crock pot and as usual, I had a problem.  You see I downsized awhile ago and got rid of my larger 6 quart crock pot.  For this recipe I needed it and I had this craving.  So off I went to remedy the situation.

Thanks to having $20 in Target gift cards my purchase was less than half price with the sale and I walked away with a brand new LARGE crock pot for less than a smaller one.   Now I will just keep this one stored in the garage when i don’t need the bigger size.

But now on to the recipe!

Crockpot Turkey

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • cooking spray
  • 1 small turkey breast-, frozen–the smallest I could find was about 7 1/2 pounds so that is why I needed a larger crock pot.
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • carrots (chunked) (You know I did NOT include these.) optional
  • potatoes (chunked) optional
  • onions (chunked) optional

Preparations:

Place frozen turkey breast in crock pot, pour broth over it and add salt and pepper. (If you include the veggies pack them in around the turkey breast).  Cook on LOW for 8-10 hours.

Easy as pie and yummy!  You don’t even have to wait until Thanksgiving!!! Enjoy!P1020132

  7. Thanks for sharing. I love the crock pot.

    • There are so many recipes out there to try and some are so so in my humble opinion but this one is a winner every time I have made it. Let me know if you try it!!!

  8. I’ve been meaning to look for crockpot recipes to make dinner during the week easier. We often get home and look around and can’t think of anything that we want and then scramble around trying to get something on the table. Going to pin this again and add it to the list of things to try! 🙂

  9. I’ve had a couple of disaster lately with crockpot meals…so I’m skeptical…but this looks reasonable and doesn’t require cream of anything…so I’ll give it a try! Thanks!

  10. Looks delicious. Good reminder we can eat turkey anytime!

  11. Yummy!

  12. This sounds wonderful; I use my crockpot at least once or twice a week. So this one I’ve got to try.

    • It is so crazy simple to do—no thawing or anything which makes it wonderful. I do a lot of stuff in the crock pot and love it when I find a recipe that actually cooks up like it is supposed to. 🙂

  13. Looks yummy! Will be trying soon. 🙂

  14. Wait! What??? the carrots are the best part.. 😀

  15. Crockpot cooking is my favorite. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

  16. Leslie says:

So, I have just gone back to eating meat after 8 years of being a vegetarian. All in preparation for my trip. I’m going to have to try this recipe.

    • So how is the eating meat thing again? I think it would be really difficult to do that but I totally understand why you are doing it. It’s all for the mission! I talked about you today on the radio during my little 5 minute spot!

      • Leslie says:

The meat eating is such a challenge, because I gave meat up due to not liking it instead of moral reasons. I have really been trying to consciously eat poultry for the past week. Indeed, it is all for the mission. So, cool I had no idea you had a radio spot. Is there an online link?

  17. I used to love my crockpot for cooking, but now it’s Kelvin who has the love affair with it since he does the cooking! I love the convenience of putting everything in one place & a few hours later the lid comes off & you have a meal!

  18. LOVE a crockpot! Between this recipe, and having a colleague bring me some of his crockpot meal, I’m convinced I’ve read the signs – time for me to buy an Australian crockpot!

  19. Jennifer says:

That should feed you for a month!!

  20. Ann Pillsbury says:

I love my crock pot too.
