Freedom Rocks

Memorial Day is a US federal holiday wherein the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces are remembered.  THANK YOU to all who have served! Ray "Bubba" Sorensen II is on a quest.  To honor our veterans. This likable young man has a gift and a passion to honor every veteran who has served and who has made a difference.  He watched the movie "Saving Private Ryan" and was inspired to do something that would be a unique way of acknowledging their service. His … [Read more...]

Sunny Skies, Warm Sand, Rainbows and Gentle Breezes

If you are anything like me you look forward to March because it usually means that spring is on  the way.  It has been a pretty brutal winter in the Midwest and quite frankly almost everywhere so when the hubby suggested a Valentine's Day trip to Bermuda  I jumped on the proverbial plane bandwagon and got ready to enjoy some warmth and fun in the sun.  Little did I know all the twists and turns that life would take prior to the trip.  I am often grateful that I can not see into the … [Read more...]

Being a blogger is part of being a big community of love and today a fellow Iowa blogger shared some love with a bunch of us.  A big thanks to Wini Moranville  who writes for the Des Moines Register for promoting a bunch of us who just happened to be online when her call went out for Iowa bloggers to promote. You can read the article by clicking on this link which will take you to the paper article in a new window.  Thanks, Wini, for sharing the love today. … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

Today I am a basket case.  Or rather--my teapot is a basket case.  How adorable is this unique and detailed basket teapot recently added to the collection from my favorite eBay seller?   I am not sure how well it will actually pour as there has obviously never been a pot of tea brewed in it.  I think it might pour a bit awkwardly but the cute factor makes up for that in my humble opinion.     When the news reporter said "Shopkeepers are opening their doors bringing … [Read more...]

The Ones Who Hold Your Heart

One of the truths in my life is that I have had to say a lot of goodbyes over the years. When I was young I grew up in a preacher's family.  In our family moving was just part of what life was all about. We really did not move all that often---I lived in 5 different towns from birth to college and that really did not seem like all that many different places to me. After marriage I have had the pleasure of exploring several areas of our great United States and even Australia. I have lived in 6 … [Read more...]

Mr. Diamond Could Actually Become Mr. Diamond

Many of you know that I refer to my beloved husband as Mr. Diamond due to his past couple years of constant travel.  We have enjoyed the benefits that come with being a Delta Diamond member and I have reaped the benefits of that status many times. We are grateful for the special attention that frequent fliers get and think it is well deserved for those business travelers who spend a lot of time in the air and in airports. With that being said I might have found a way to preserve Mr. Diamond's … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

Another delightful teapot today from my favorite eBay seller who is selling off her mom's teapot collection that numbers close to 1000!!!   I love this little froggie themed teapot and am happy to welcome it into my collection.   … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

This cute teapot came from Ebay from my sweet seller whose mom had the massive collection.  Who could resist this pastoral  themed Sadler teapot? Not me!  It is a lovely teapot which has never had a pot of tea brewed in it.  I need to change that!   One of the shining moments of my day is that when, having returned a little weary from an afternoon walk, I exchange boots for slippers, out-of-doors coat for easy, familiar, shabby jacket, and, in my deep, soft-elbowed … [Read more...]

A Bit of Mojo

Mr. Diamond and I just returned from a fabulous two weeks in North Carolina.  My heart is still there and if you have any inkling of who I am at all you know that my dream will always be to be someplace, on a beach, in North Carolina, Kindle and iced tea in hand. The weather on our recent trip was less than spectacular, we had a little fender bender that took out a whole day of fun in the sun and yet----it was the perfect trip in many ways.  The day we had the accident we were 2 miles from … [Read more...]

November 2: Number Two

Today I am very thankful that I live in the United States of America. Do we have problems? Sometimes. But do we have freedom to exercise our right to vote, freedom to worship, freedom to speak freely among other things---YES! What a great country we live in. We are a nation of incredible people with gifts and talents and aspirations. And as I have driven across the miles---it is a beautiful nation also. So for those things I am very thankful! … [Read more...]
