An Attitude of Gratitude

To be ungrateful is sinful.  It is a failure to repay a moral debt.  There are degrees of ungratefulness. The first degree is to neglect to return a favor.  The second degree is to take no notice of the favor. The lowest degree in ingratitude is to fail even to admit to one's self that a favor has been given.  We are all familiar with ungrateful people--people who accept favors as if they were theirs by right, people who never thank anyone for favors, and people who never return a favor.  Such … [Read more...]

Blessings in a Jar

One of the latest things floating around Facebook land and all things Pinterest is a take on the Blessing Jar.  I decided to give it a go this year and see what I could do with it.   The concept is very simple---take a jar and over the year place in it notes of  things that you are grateful for, memories that you don't want to forget, experiences that are over the top and in general --just every thing that makes you smile.  At the end of the year you can take the papers out and relive those … [Read more...]

My Thankful Day

I don't talk about it often but I shouldn't be here.  If it were not for the grace of God and some very important friends you would not be reading this post today.  I decided that I should commemorate today this year---and express my gratefulness and thankfulness that I am here to write about it. It was one of those bizarre things.  It was a one in a million event.  But then I am a one in a million person, right?  :-)  Micah had made his entrance into the world 3 weeks earlier---poor little … [Read more...]

Gratitude Dance

My friend, Jen, posted this on her Facebook page for all of her "Yoof" to see....well....I loved it and thought that it was a perfect Sunday post.  A little intro as written on YouTube: There are no weekend box office charts for online videos. But if there were, at the top of nearly every list right now might well be a four-and-a-half-minute video called "Dancing." In just a month since its online release, it has been viewed by more than ten million people. After 14 months of traveling in 42 … [Read more...]

Wrapping Up

Hello Friends!!!  The year is winding down, isn't it?? Hard to believe as like many of you I will be kind of breathing a sigh of relief when 2011 is ushered out the door.  It has been an interesting year to put it mildly and I am certainly ready to leave behind some of the sadness associated with 2011  and move on. The Christmas letters are waiting to be written until after the first of the year.  I just was not into it and it always makes me smile when I get a nice letter in January or … [Read more...]

Thankful Thursday

Seems like the thing to do in November is to start a thankful list.  Many folks on Facebook are using that for their status each day in November.  Each day they state a different thing that they are thankful for.  Not a bad thing to do and I think I did that last year but this year I haven't jumped on the bandwagon for some reason. Don't get me wrong---I am very thankful.  I have a lot to be thankful for, trust me.  I know it!  I try to live in an attitude of thankfulness. I try to appreciate … [Read more...]

Red Apples, Forgiveness and Parenthood

Haven't done this blog hop for awhile so here we go!!!!!  Thanks, Java!!!"Meet Me On Monday!" Blogging  is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read  and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is  this person!?"  I know them...but yet I don't know them!  I want  to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great  way for all of us to "meet" each other!  Every Sunday Never Growing Old will post five get to know you  questions … [Read more...]

Day 23—Dreams!

Today I am thankful for dreams! I have some pretty crazy ones and it always makes me laugh to wake up and think about what weird things I dream about. Some people don't dream much but I do and I usually am pretty good at remembering them---maybe because they are so off the wall! … [Read more...]

Number 22—-Teamwork

Today I am thankful for teamwork! You know there are some things that you just can't do alone and it is great to have others who can help you with those projects along the way. Too often I am unwilling to ask for help when I need it because I don't want to inconvenience someone but a wise friend of mine once said to me "Well YOU would do it for someone else, wouldn't you?" Of course I would! So there you have it! Ask for help when you need it and use teamwork !!! And as you can tell in … [Read more...]
