A Teapot from Portugal and More–Teapot Tuesday

Our oldest son, Micah, is a traveler.  He has a bit of the wanderlust in him and it makes me know that he is truly our son because he is always up for new experiences.  Earlier this year he took a massive trip which included a trip to Portugal.  I reaped the benefits of that trip because he found me a perfect teapot. Isn't it adorable? The cork is what sets it apart from any other teapot that I have. It came with a couple of little cups and when I did an online search I found out that this … [Read more...]

A Chilly Reception on Teapot Tuesday

I am always on the lookout for different takes on the basic teapot and I found this little (and I do mean little) gem and had to make room in my collection for it.  It was a bargain price and it spoke volumes in character even if it is not a practical teapot for everyday use.  Not all of them have to be functional, right? Just look at the "coils" on the back of the fridge! Eggs and condiments in the door! Looks to me like it is fully stocked and ready for company! But perhaps it is … [Read more...]

Totally Travel—Teapot Tuesday

You know that I love to travel if you have read any  posts of mine at all here on It's Just Life.  You can imagine that this little teapot caught my eye on eBay because it embraces the love of both travel and teapots all in one beautiful package. Did you notice that adorable textile in the background?  Another eBay find with all four corners featuring a different "scene". This one is my favorite as you can imagine.  How cute are the little creamer and sugar container? So I says "My dear … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday—-Sometimes Size Matters

Isn't this just an amazing little teapot?  I found this special teapot on Ebay and immediately fell in love with the unique and beautiful designs that literally cover the porcelain.  The spout is uniquely shaped and the craftsmanship looked impressive from the photographs that accompanied the listing.   However I found myself wondering---what do the characters on the back of the teapot say?  Do they say "enjoy your cup of tea"?  Do they say "This teapot is made in China"? Do they … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

I have had this teapot in my collection for a long time and I love it.  Even though the weather is turning gloomy and a bit grey these days this teapot reminds me of spring, bumble bees and sunshine! By the way---Pantry cleaning project complete.  I took no prisoners.  I hope to see no more moths! How about an appropriate quote from a fabulous author about tea during NaBloPoMo month?  Seems appropriate, doesn't it?? “I still encourage anyone who feels at all compelled to … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

This lovely lady was acquired on Ebay some time ago and was part of the Department 56 collection.  Hopefully this one is not offensive to anyone......it is a really pretty teapot with a lot of character.  Enjoy!       In Ireland, you go to someone's house, and she asks you if you want a cup of tea. You say no, thank you, you're really just fine. She asks if you'resure. You say of course you're sure, really, you don't need a thing. Except they pronounce … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday—Garden Style

I have teapot themes everywhere ----including in my flower beds!   There are so many teapot themed teapots to be found these days so I thought I would share a few of mine with you today.  Let's go outside this week!   We had a kettle: we let it leak: Our not repairing it made it worse. We haven't had any tea for a week... The bottom is out of the Universe. -----Rudyard Kipling   … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

If this guy looks a little familiar it might be because he is very similar to one that I posted here.   I was surprised to get an email from a man named Stan who lives in Ohio .  He was doing a  little research on Occupied Japan teapots and found his way to my blog where I featured that last little guy.  Stan recently lost his wife and is in the process of downsizing in preparation for a move to a smaller place and is trying to get rid of a few items that he no longer needs.  One of those items … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

My recent trip to Dresden, Ohio --home of all things Longaberger found me looking at teapots and not baskets.  Imagine that!  I have a couple Longaberger teapots on my collection already so I was not really looking for one there but I did find a cute basket themed one in one of the little shops in Dresden.  It was a steal at $7.50 and even if it is not an official Longaberger item it will always remind me of a great trip with a great friend. "There is no trouble so great or grave … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday of the Most Unusual Type

I am always trolling Ebay and Etsy for different types of teapots.  I think I hit the jackpot with this 6 spouted beauty!!!  I was thrilled to find it and even more thrilled when it arrived.  I asked the seller a bit about it and this is what was posted on Etsy for the back story. This vintage Chinese white porcelain teapot with six spouts was purchased from an Iranian in Peshawar. Only one of the spouts actually works; the others are purely decorative and make this teapot extremely unique. A … [Read more...]
