Christmas Shopping? No Bah-Humbug in Mason City!

It is not a surprise that I love to shop.  I don't have to always make a purchase but I do love to see what local stores are offering and this past Friday the North Iowa Bloggers spent a bit of time together enjoying a few of my favorite shops in our town. First stop was Soyphisticated Candles.  I love all of the products that Camille Lee offers and have never been disappointed with anything that I have gotten from her.  I have blogged about her before several times (check out my first … [Read more...]

Susie Q Cafe Valentine Diner Wins Hearts

Earlier this year Chris and I were on a quest to visit a lot of different places in the Mason City area and beyond that we had not visited previously.  It seemed like we had missed a lot in our town that we needed to become acquainted with.  So we visited this cute little diner called Suzie Q Cafe which is located in downtown Mason City on 2nd Street, NW.  What I forgot to do was write a blog post about it and of course when I looked for the pictures I took I could not find them.  So that meant … [Read more...]

Comments for a Cause: Bridging the Gap

I am having to scramble a bit to get this post done but I know everyone is looking forward to the first of the month now just like I do every month.  I am a bit distracted this weekend by the festivities of Cory and Sam's wedding but what a wonderful way to be distracted!!!  Best wishes to my son's former roommate and his new wife!!!! This past month has been a wonderful month to highlight a local group that is fundraising for a new facility that will house the local women and children who … [Read more...]

Recapitulation

I took a few days off and I am very glad that I did.  I did not totally disconnect from social media---I still posted a few tweets, Facebook statuses and even checked on a few blogs but I did not write any posts.  Mr. Diamond came home and the above picture shows that the whole weekend was a thumbs up! The first thing I realized was that Chris was coming in on Thursday instead of Friday like I thought!  It helps if you actually look at the email with the ticket info, right?  It's all good---I … [Read more...]

Signs on the Pavement of Things to Come

When I came home from Minneapolis on Wednesday I had to dodge orange cones or witches hats as they call them in Australia. The road that goes in front of our house was littered with them --carefully protecting the newly painted signs on the pavement that signaled to me that something big is going to be passing through Mason City in July. RAGBRAI is a big deal. When we first moved here I heard talk of RAGBRAI but had absolutely no idea what it was.  It is a non competitive bicycle race across … [Read more...]

Comments for a Cause: Racing with Leslie

It's the first of the month and around here at It's Just Life that means that it is time to count the comments!  This past month I chose a local group in Mason City called My Happy Place that creates wonderful rooms for kids who have endured or are enduring some crisis in their lives.  It is a wonderful way to show these kids that people care and that they can have their own special place.  I can not say enough about this organization and the dreams that they are helping to come true.  We made a … [Read more...]

April 1st is here and even though it is a day for practical jokes and tom foolery that won't be what you find on It's Just Life because it is Comments for a Cause day!!!  I know I say this every single month but it really is my favorite day of the month because I get to share with you how much we raised for Comments for a Cause AND reveal what our next cause will be.  March was a great month to feature Make a Wish-North Iowa as the featured charity. You can read the original post by clicking … [Read more...]
