Get Out The Poodle Skirts!

You read that correctly!  It is time to pull out the saddle shoes and poodle skirts if you are a North Iowa person because my favorite local radio station, KCMR, Inspiration 97.9 is pulling out all the stops and putting on a show.  The best part is that YOU get to be a part of the show in a sense.  It's all about the music and it's coming to Mason City, Iowa on Friday, August 22nd from 7-9 p.m. "Malt Shop Memories" is the Friday night show on KCMR and is hosted by these fabulous folks … [Read more...]

River City Sculpture Walk 2014-2015—-A Delightful Afternoon Walk

Last year I did several posts on the local River City Sculptures on Parade in Mason City.  I loved each and every sculpture that graced our city and told everyone I could to go see them.  There is just something special about each one of them and I was a big cheerleader for the entire series.  I think the work that has gone into getting these sculptures to our city has been magnificent. You can imagine that I was thrilled when several were purchased to remain in our city. Probably the biggest … [Read more...]

Signs on the Pavement of Things to Come

When I came home from Minneapolis on Wednesday I had to dodge orange cones or witches hats as they call them in Australia. The road that goes in front of our house was littered with them --carefully protecting the newly painted signs on the pavement that signaled to me that something big is going to be passing through Mason City in July. RAGBRAI is a big deal. When we first moved here I heard talk of RAGBRAI but had absolutely no idea what it was.  It is a non competitive bicycle race across … [Read more...]

You May Have To Wait in Line—I’m Signing Autographs These Days

I know you all think that I am just a 50 something woman from the Midwest who spends her time collecting teapots and spoiling her cats.  I am about to crush those images for you so be prepared. I figured out long ago that I may not be cut out for fame and fortune and I am okay with that.  I like my life.  Scratch that.  I love my life.  All of it. All the bits and pieces. All the messiness of it sometimes is what makes my life my life. But I am like many who get dazzled by celebrity status … [Read more...]

It is April 23rd and that signals two important events.  First of all it is the 29th birthday of my sweet son, Micah! Happy Birthday to an amazing son!  The other event is a world wide event. Back in February I shared the wonderful news that I was one of the chosen ones meaning that I was selected to be a book giver for World Book Night on April 23, 2014.  You can read here how excited I was to be chosen. If you are not aware of what World Book Night is all about it is an amazing opportunity … [Read more...]

Undocumented Armadillo = Sad Face

Yes, it is true.  If you have seen my earlier post this week you know about the much anticipated arrival of Andy the Armadillo.  Andy came to me from Patti in Virginia but I think his roots and ancestry may be more from the Georgia area.  His mama, Lenore, blogs over here at Lenore's Thoughts Exactly and she was gracious enough to share him with me.  He has already proved to be a wonderful house guest and has settled right in with us. Chris and I have been preparing for our anniversary … [Read more...]
