Blog Hop Around the World

I was invited by the wonderful Patti Jarrett from A New Day Dawns to join in the fun of a Blog Hop Around the World.  I told her I would join in but as I write this I am not sure how great of a post it will be.  Typical Beth Ann fashion---I jump in and say yes without really thinking it through but I will give it a good ole try. I guess the hardest thing for me was to think about what "creative" thing I wanted to focus on in this post.  I do a bit of writing, a bit of photography and a bit of … [Read more...]

A Bit of Post World Book Night Syndrome

Have you ever anticipated something for a really long time and then when the thing that you anticipated for so long finally arrives it is a bit of a let down emotionally?  I think I am suffering Post World Book Night Syndrome. The day has come and gone and I am left…….a bit sad.  There, I said it.  My experience was just that---a bit sad.  But a learning experience. I thought that my first foray into the World Book Night adventure would be best suited if I could get someplace who would … [Read more...]

Library Love NCSU Style

On a recent trip to Raleigh, North Carolina to visit our youngest son we had the fun of going to go see the new Hunt Library at North Carolina State University--his alma mater.  It was beyond amazing. There's that word again!  It was fabulous!!!  It was stupendous!  It was incredible!  It was out of this world!  Okay--enough of the superlatives.    Aaron had made a donation which secured him a bench outside the library with his name on it.  Since there were no names on any of them yet we just … [Read more...]

What Will I Miss?

I am just going to say it. I have not been a huge fan of Iowa.   It has not been my favorite state to live in.  Perhaps it was because we moved FROM North Carolina to Iowa and then moved again from AUSTRALIA back to Iowa. Two climates that are much better,  in my humble opinion.   My life got a little complicated there for awhile so if you have followed me for awhile you know about our moves.  Regardless, I am thinking that Iowa has not been the state where I have achieved a blissful state. I … [Read more...]

Matt Lauer and I Have Something In Common

Yep---I bet you didn't know that I have a famous connection.  Well, kind of sort of.  On the Today Show this morning they highlighted Matt's first job as a newspaper deliverer.  Guess what?  That was MY first job too!   And a pretty fun one when I think back on it!   I delivered The Sandusky Register when I was in grade school at North Fairfield.  I am not really sure what years I did it but I lived there from 3rd grade through 7th grade so that gives you an idea.   I loved it.  My brothers (and … [Read more...]

Stop Whining!

I just read 2 unrelated articles in our local paper -The Globe Gazette---online, of course. One was about the abundance of area sweet corn and how great it is this year and the other was about the local library and how the renovations that are taking place are keeping the public in mind-----both seemingly straight forward articles with no controversy involved. THEN I clicked on the discussion links and on both of those articles folks had posted negative comments!!!! Now how can you get … [Read more...]
