Teapot Tuesday SOS Vintage Style

I walked into SOS Vintage in Webster City on Saturday and fell in love.  Seriously.  I fell in love.  As I chowed down on a lovely blueberry scone I spied it----THE teapot. Nestled amongst the vintage items I found the cutest teapot ever.  Oh there were lots of teapots sprinkled around the store owned and managed by Denise Smith but it was this lovely green one that begged to come home with me. SOS Vintage was our first stop on our Webster City tour that was sponsored by the Webster City … [Read more...]

Celebrity For A Day

Have you ever felt like you were a celebrity?  Ever been treated to over the top service?  Ever felt like you mattered and were important?  Saturday I felt like I was an honored guest and I have the wonderful city of Webster City, Iowa to thank for making me feel that way.  The Chamber of Commerce hosted our North Iowa Blogger group on December 13th for a day in their thriving town.  I had never visited this lovely town that boasts a population of just around 8000 and is situated on the Boone … [Read more...]

Now That’s Whimsical

Some of my fun North Iowa Bloggers and I attempted to be crafty the other night.  Some of us succeeded perhaps a little bit better than others but we all had fun and that was what the whole evening was about. You might remember me writing about visiting the Carlson Christmas Tree Farm back when I was posting about our Franklin County Harvest Bloggers Tour in the fall this year.  It was one place that we stopped on our first night to enjoy some fabulous food and conversation.  Oh yes--the … [Read more...]

Christmas Shopping? No Bah-Humbug in Mason City!

It is not a surprise that I love to shop.  I don't have to always make a purchase but I do love to see what local stores are offering and this past Friday the North Iowa Bloggers spent a bit of time together enjoying a few of my favorite shops in our town. First stop was Soyphisticated Candles.  I love all of the products that Camille Lee offers and have never been disappointed with anything that I have gotten from her.  I have blogged about her before several times (check out my first … [Read more...]

Susie Q Cafe Valentine Diner Wins Hearts

Earlier this year Chris and I were on a quest to visit a lot of different places in the Mason City area and beyond that we had not visited previously.  It seemed like we had missed a lot in our town that we needed to become acquainted with.  So we visited this cute little diner called Suzie Q Cafe which is located in downtown Mason City on 2nd Street, NW.  What I forgot to do was write a blog post about it and of course when I looked for the pictures I took I could not find them.  So that meant … [Read more...]

Franklin County Harvest Bloggers Tour—First Rate Lodging

I hardly know where to start with sharing my past weekend in Franklin County but I decided to start with our lodging for the weekend.  The entire weekend was sponsored and paid for in full by the Franklin County Farm Bureau and Franklin County Tourism . I will be writing many posts about this event and that was an expectation of attending this weekend but I am thrilled to highlight all that we experienced over the weekend.  Trust me---it was a lot of fun. Chris was able to make it back from … [Read more...]

It’s Fall in North Iowa, Y’all!

I am giving in and just saying it---it's fall.  It really is. I have been trying to live in denial but as I type this today it is totally fall weather outside.  The pictures above show my fabulous mums and pumpkins (and notice that adorable pumpkin holder!) that I got at a local small family business--Anderson's.  Their selection was fabulous and I loved being able to support a nice local small town business.  When the mums start really opening they are going to be amazing. Speaking of … [Read more...]

Smokey Eyes

The other day I was going to go meet a friend at a local coffee shop by the name of Coffee Cat.  I have been there several times and the owner, Cat, is a really friendly and nice lady.  The place features local musicians and although I always say that I am going to go listen to some of them I have yet to do that.  One day. On this particular day when I met my friend I breezed in.    She was already seated and I greeted her before going to the counter to order my tea.  To give … [Read more...]
