Who Influences You?

I have had a lot of folks who have influenced me through the years and set examples for me.  I have been so blessed by being surrounded all of my life by warm, loving and supportive people.  If I have gotten anywhere in this life it is due to all of those folks who have nurtured and loved me for who I am and who I am still becoming. Recently I had the pleasure of spending a couple of hours with some folks in North Carolina who have helped shape my life in a lot of ways. They were all there … [Read more...]

A Chicken Purse, A Transporter and A Long Awaited Meeting

What a day!!!!   It is Wednesday night when I write this and I am recovering resting easily in my hotel room after a fun filled evening with Bernie of One Mixed Bag fame.  I "met" Bernie awhile ago through a blog hop and have followed her blog religiously ever since I found her.  She is funny and witty, gifted and creative, open and sincere and has the biggest heart of anyone I have met recently. When Bernie told me she was coming to visit her awesome friends in Duluth and beyond I was hoping … [Read more...]

Flying, Friends, Frigid, Family Friday!!!!

It's been a great week at It's Just Life!  I hope that I did not shock some of you with my Woodiees post yesterday but it was just too good to not write about!  We are enjoying the last few days of warmer weather before fall sets in--the leaves are almost all blown off the trees and the air is definitely getting cooler.  It is finally Friday and even though I am no longer punching the old time clock I look forward to Fridays as if I were!  The weekend is still something to definitely look … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday!!!!!

This week I am featuring a teapot that a very special young lady gave to me.  When I lived in North Carolina we were a part of a wonderful and loving church family at Fair View UMC in Mount Mourne.  One of the things that we did for our confirmation class was to have along with mentors--secret pals.  Being the secret pal was pretty cool because you got to deliver gifts and notes of encouragement and be a part of the confirmand's journey from afar until the big reveal.  It was not quite of  the … [Read more...]

Think Spring!!!

We decided that we could just not get our act together in December to have a party for the folks that work with Chris.  There was just too much we had to do and we were going to be gone too much to make it work so we opted for the post Christmas celebration.  Last weekend we held a Think Spring party and had a blast!  Of course I found all kinds of great things that I wanted to cook and prepare and as I rattled off the list to Chris he just looked at me incredulously and said "That is way too … [Read more...]

A Flashlight and A Man I Loved

You saw correctly--that is a picture of a little flashlight.  I always carry it in my purse and today it has special significance.   You can understand because a very special man gave it to me the last time I saw him in August and today this very special man passed away.  When he gave it to me he said it was so that I could carry the light with me and whenever I reach into my purse and find it I think of him.  And today, I think of him even more. He shared a name with a famous … [Read more...]

Does Anyone Really Know What Life Will Bring?

28 years ago today Chris and I were married.  It has been a fabulous 28 years.  Not, mind you, without the usual challenges and life dramas but through it all Chris and I have been blessed with the ability to talk to one another and get through whatever the hurdle is.  One thing has always remained strong and that is our love and respect for one another.  I know that not everyone can say that they have experienced the same in their lives but for us it has been easy going for the marriage aspect … [Read more...]
