Pastime with Pro’s and A Hungry Mind

Who doesn't love a blog post that features food?  Today I decided to share three local places that Chris and I have eaten in the past few weeks.  We find ourselves having "date nights" and "lunch dates" these days and are trying to explore some of the area eateries that we don't frequent too often.  Today I will share 3 of those little places with you and tempt you with pictures of lovely food in technicolor. First stop---Pastime Gardens located on S. Madison in Mason City. I had been to this … [Read more...]

It’s Teapot Tuesday, Cupcake!

A tiny little teapot to serve a cup of tea with your cupcake!  When I bought it I thought it was going to be larger than it actually is but no worries---it makes up for its size in cuteness.   Buddy once again wanted to get into the act and decided to sample my tea while I was away from it…..suffice it to say I did not finish that cup. “Dad was at his desk when I opened the door, doing what all British people do when they're freaked out: drinking tea.” ― Rachel … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

Another fun teapot today featuring the color red. This one is the perfect size for just a couple of cups of my favorite tea on a cold day.  The design on the pale yellow background is especially delicate and lovely.   While it is not a pot to be put into service when there is a crowd for tea it is perfect for an afternoon pot to share with the hubby.   The best kind of rain, of course, is a cozy rain. This is the kind the anonymous medieval poet makes me remember, the rain … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

Today I am a basket case.  Or rather--my teapot is a basket case.  How adorable is this unique and detailed basket teapot recently added to the collection from my favorite eBay seller?   I am not sure how well it will actually pour as there has obviously never been a pot of tea brewed in it.  I think it might pour a bit awkwardly but the cute factor makes up for that in my humble opinion.     When the news reporter said "Shopkeepers are opening their doors bringing … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

Today on It's Just Life I am featuring another "warmer weather" teapot hoping to warm us all up a bit from the chill of winter. This lovely lighthouse themed teapot fits right in with my lighthouse themed guest bathroom.  Because of course---every one needs to enjoy a cup of tea in the bathroom, right???  This one came from my favorite eBay seller who has 1000 teapots of her mother's to liquidate. tea leaves tea loves loves tea lives tea leaves tea? never. ~Uniek … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

How cute is this set that my sister sent to me ???  A purrfect set of teapot and two matching cups for a purrfectly good cup of tea to share with a friend.  Come on over and I will put the kettle on and share.  If you are lucky I will make sure that there are no real cat hairs in the brew. Tea is also a sort of spiritual refreshment, an elixir of clarity and wakeful tranquility. Respectfully preparing tea and partaking of it mindfully create heart-to-heart conviviality, a way to go … [Read more...]

Food and Friday Fill In’s

Let's start the day off right with some delightful food pictures!!!   Last night we had dinner with Micah and Angela at a fabulous place in 5 Points (Jacksonville) called Black Sheep.  It was wonderful and any place that focuses on fresh local "handcrafted" ingredients is okay with me.  We were not disappointed with any of our selections and service was great!       Are you hungry now???  It was a seriously good meal and the company was even … [Read more...]

An Unlikely Combo

I am always trying new recipes.  The problem is that with just Chris and I and half the time, just I, it is hard to cook in appropriate quantities.  As a result I end up eating said food for the entire week so hopefully it is a good recipe!  This past week have tried a couple of new recipes that I LOVE so I thought I would share. The first is a bit odd---I will admit but we both loved it and it is definitely a keeper.  Hang in there with me and give it a chance! Paul Qui's Brussel … [Read more...]
