Rekindled Passion

Our recent trip to Wyoming in July has rekindled a passion in my husband.  Of course it is passion for me!   But the other passion is fly fishing---something that both his grandfather and father loved.  Both of them tied flies and made rods and had a passion for the sport.   When we cleaned out his dad's house Chris brought home boxes and boxes of fly fishing  paraphernalia.   Bit by bit he has gone through those boxes and containers and has sorted and saved.  The once pristine guest bedroom in … [Read more...]

Here Fishy Fishy Fishy!

Today is THE day.  I am going fly fishing for the very first time.  Chris is very excited.  I am less excited probably because I have memories of golf lessons with Bill Bopple (yep--that was really his name) and how those went.  You know it is not a good sign when the golf pro is still showing golf club holding on lesson three.....I may be a slow learner. Yep, there he is.....the one lone salmon that managed to be caught over the weekend by my hubby and his dad in Michigan.   According to the "experts" the water was just too warm and any self respecting fish would not enter those conditions.  So it makes me wonder if "Sal the Salmon" was a little unaware of his surroundings.  Perhaps he saw a hottie salmon and thought that he would chase her.  Or perhaps his vision is going along with his sense of touch.  I don't know .  But whatever the reason … [Read more...]
