What’s App????

A lot of you may know that I love my iPhone.  I have had various iterations of it for years and have loved each and every one just a little bit better.  Currently I am in need of a new one because my camera is wonky on this one and it is driving me nuts.  I can not take any pictures that aren't blurry and that just does not work for me so I have son number 2 working on locating me a new one. Today I was thinking about how much I use my phone and what my favorite apps are and I thought it … [Read more...]

I’m Chosen! I’m Chosen!

The email came.  I whooped!  I hollered!  I yelled at the husband and told him that I was in!  Yes--this news deserves all of those exclamation marks, my friends, because "I" was selected to be a World Book Night 2014 giver! One of my bloggy friends, Bernie, who writes a very witty and engaging blog over at One Mixed Bag got me interested last year when she put information on Facebook about World Book Night.  I had never heard of it before so of course I was drawn in since I am all about … [Read more...]

The Sands of Time

Anyone out there feeling overwhelmed recently? If my Facebook newsfeed, tweets, blog reader and emails tell me anything it is that a lot of folks have started out 2014 with a bang and not necessarily in a good way.  I don't have to put on my Nancy Drew detective hat to make that conclusion. Are we all on overload?  Is it just the world that we live in today that helps promote the frenzy? And then the worry takes over. Oh yes. That worry that wakes you up in the middle of the night … [Read more...]

From Water to Research–Comments for A Cause

I am a little late in posting today but I am finally getting to the exciting news about Comments for a Cause. For the past 2 1/2 years I have featured a different cause each month on It's Just Life and for every comment made during that month on any blog post I have donated 50 cents to that featured cause.  My husband and I are thrilled with the response that this has elicited and each month the perfect cause seems to appear. In September I chose Samaritan's Purse---specifically their work in … [Read more...]

Fabulous Friday

Check it out!!!  I have a new "button" on the top of the page for Facebook! It's Friday so that means time to join Hilary at Feeling Beachie for her weekly blog hop.  Feel free to stop over and join in the fun or let me know in the comments what your … [Read more...]

All Things Considered

All things considered I love the accessibility of social media. I love being able to have the world at my fingertips.  I absolutely love all of my electronic devices that allow me to post, chat, peruse, read and catch up with people in my life.  But sometimes.....sometimes......it works against me. I am on Facebook and have been for quite a few years.  I originally fought it when my sister, who was in graduate school at the time, tried to get me to join so that I could be a part of her … [Read more...]

Blessings in a Jar

One of the latest things floating around Facebook land and all things Pinterest is a take on the Blessing Jar.  I decided to give it a go this year and see what I could do with it.   The concept is very simple---take a jar and over the year place in it notes of  things that you are grateful for, memories that you don't want to forget, experiences that are over the top and in general --just every thing that makes you smile.  At the end of the year you can take the papers out and relive those … [Read more...]

Final Words?

Apparently Facebook has a new app---it is the "If I Die" app. I stumbled upon an article on Huffington Post detailing the ins and outs of this new app.  It is intriguing to think about it but it gives the user an opportunity to have messages, even videos, posted upon their death to Facebook.  The user selects 3 "trustees" who they would allow to be the ones to activate the app upon their death. The creator of the app--Willook, an Israeli startup, says that they can not see the messages or … [Read more...]
