Going Home

I have been living a pretty charmed life these days.  A trip to Ohio to see all of my Ohio family that I could see and now a trip to North Carolina to catch up with family and friends.  It is what I love the most---being with family and friends and just living in the moment. One thing that I loved was being able to go to church on Sunday to the church that Chris and I and the boys attended for almost 9 years when we lived in North Carolina.  It was at this church, Fair View UMC in Mount … [Read more...]

Thanksgiving Prayer

Psalm 111 Praise the Lord. I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who have pleasure in them. Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures for ever. He has caused his wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful. He provides food for those who fear him; he is ever mindful of his covenant. He has shown his people the power of his … [Read more...]

Living Large on Teapot Tuesday

Sometimes you see something that you HAVE to have.  Case in point this past weekend when my Mooresville friends, Judy and Ann and I explored the Main Street Antique and Design Gallery that resides in the old Burlington Mill facility in the downtown area of the town in North Carolina that I love to return to.  The warehouse is huge and filled with vendors who  have booths that seek antiques as well as new merchandise, handmade items and all kinds of vintage and unique and yes--sometimes quirky … [Read more...]

The Sun Still Comes Up

Did you ever think about that?  The sun still comes up. Every day.  Some days it may be hidden by clouds.  Some days it may be covered with raindrops.  Some days, heaven forbid it, there may even be snow that covers the brilliance of the sun but it ALWAYS comes up.  Without fail. I was just pondering that fact this past week when I have felt the burdens of several of my friends.  If I could offer one word of comfort to any of them it would be just that fact---the sun still comes up.   No … [Read more...]

Cee from Cee's Photography offers a weekly challenge to Share Your World . What a great way to share what is going on in my little mind without having to think too much.  Hop on over to Cee's and join in on the Share Your World challenge.  I don't do it every week but it is fun to do it every once in awhile.  This week's questions made me think....just a little bit. On a vacation what you would require in any place that you sleep? A comfy bed and good pillows---I have spent my share of nights … [Read more...]

Susie Q Cafe Valentine Diner Wins Hearts

Earlier this year Chris and I were on a quest to visit a lot of different places in the Mason City area and beyond that we had not visited previously.  It seemed like we had missed a lot in our town that we needed to become acquainted with.  So we visited this cute little diner called Suzie Q Cafe which is located in downtown Mason City on 2nd Street, NW.  What I forgot to do was write a blog post about it and of course when I looked for the pictures I took I could not find them.  So that meant … [Read more...]

Nature Loving Teapot on Teapot Tuesday

This sweet teapot was a gem I picked up while I was in Faribault, MN celebrating Audrey's birthday (from Minnesota Prairie Roots).  This one was at a lovely shop called The Nook and Cranny and it was one of a whole plethora that caught my eye but this one made its way home with me.   If you are even in the area you definitely need to check this gem of a shop out because they are loaded with antiques and gifts galore that just may need to make a trip home in your car. You have a … [Read more...]
