Pulling It All Together

bermudaAhhhhhhhh………don’t you just wish you were lounging by this lovely turquoise water in Bermuda about now?  I know I am wishing that my toes were in the sand there about now but for now this will have to suffice.

I think it is just kind of that time of year for a lot of us.  I feel a little bit like this guy that I saw on Facebook today.

I am feeling a bit frazzled but today I am pulling it all together and going to regroup and refocus my efforts to get my life together. I am determined.

I was in North Carolina this past weekend enjoying the beautiful weather and reveling in the marriage of our youngest son’s former roommate.  I had the distinct honor to be able to be the “Day of Event Coordinator” so I got to be in on all of the fun stuff for the weekend and make sure that everyone got down the aisle on time .  I had the task of sending the text message to the “men” to GO Alpha Team so that the groom and groomsmen were in place at the right time.  What power I yielded.

I have to say the ceremony uniting Cory and Samantha was the most touching wedding ceremony I have been to. The atmosphere at the Rigmor House in Chapel Hill was the perfect setting for their ceremony.  It was simply beautiful and I think everyone that attended –family and friends–loved the entire evening.

Who doesn't love a wedding where you can go outside to the bonfire and make your own s'more????

Of course some of my favorite moments were moments spent with my own family.  After my “duties” were done I could kick back and enjoy the evening.

Today it is a slow slog back to reality.  Recovering from the weekend is taking longer than I thought it would but I am pulling it all together and will be back in normal form soon, I hope.

What about you?  Did a long weekend make you lose track of time?  Are you back in the swing?  Any suggestions on how to pull it back together?  I would love to hear what you have to say.

  1. For me, travel over a long weekend makes me feel like I have a lot of catching up to do, whereas a long weekend at home feels leisurely. (But give me travel any day.)
We had our annual block party in my neighborhood which was particularly fun this year in spite of the rain that broke up the party.

    • I did manage to get almost everything marked off my list yesterday but I felt fuzzy the entire day. Today will be another day of trying to catch up. But yes—travel is worth it. Trip to Chicago this weekend. Woo hooo!

  2. Not in the swing yet, and playing hookie today!

  3. I will trade you this time! This long weekend was spent with a houseful of sick people. It made for a longgggg weekend! But it sounds like your weekend was fabulous!!! You will get back in the swing of things….sometimes it just takes longer!

  4. What an amazing week. I LOVE that photo of the sheep. I think that expresses how frazzled we can feel better than any other photo I’ve ever seen.

  5. I never know what to comment….but I did want to let you know I enjoy reading your blog and I think this particular post epitomizes the reason. It is just so relatable, cute, funny and enjoyable. Thank you so much for letting us, the readers, view just a snippet of your world 😉
It looks like it was such a beautiful and fun wedding!!

    • Well you commented just fine and I am so happy that you took the time to do it! Thank you so much! I am pretty transparent, aren’t I?? What you see is what you get. 🙂 The wedding was so much fun–you are right about that. It was magical in a lot of ways. And the s’mores were yummy!

  6. Don’t sweat the small stuff, Beth Ann. Just take it one day at a time. Remember not to put extra pressure on yourself, but bask in the after-glow of time off spent in loving company!

I’ve never heard of s’mores at a wedding — what an interesting idea. They look like a happy couple, and I wish them the best!

  7. I am exactly in your spot–overwhelmed after that vacation and cleaning my mom’s house and trying to sort through stuff I brought back. I’m making progress, though.

  8. Don’t be so hard on yourself 😉

  9. I was fortunate to stay home pretty much all weekend! I got lots of odds and ends done which have piling up. Now I’m ready for a real three weekend where I can get away 🙂

    • It is great to have those weekends at home when you can do all those things that need to be done. I will be playing catch up for weeks with a couple other short trips coming up. But it’s all good!

  10. The picture of the sheep sums up my day too. S’more’s sounds like my kind of wedding. Now get busy, get it done, and head to Chicago. No rest for the wicked or weary! or perhaps misery loves company. 😀

  11. No. I’m still frazzled, but I blame that just as much as being in the transition period of switching jobs! I’m ready to start my new routine. Hang in there! It’s almost the weekend again! Lol!

  12. Sandy Evans says:

Beth Ann, thank you again so much for all your help. You were great, I don’t know how we could have pulled it off without you and Nichole. It was, in Sam’s words, ‘The Best Day Ever’. But, I know what you mean, I have feel frazzled all week, (of course having to come back and work 10 hours days all week, is not helping). I’m looking forward to a nice, quiet weekend at home to catch up on things. I truly had a marvelous time! You’re the best!

  13. Since I don’t work anymore, the only way I know it’s a long weekend is because Kelvin is usually home for an extra day. We did go shopping on Sunday for bedding for our new beds which will arrive in a couple more weeks. We finally splurged & bought the beds where you can raise the head, the foot or both. This should help with my sleeping so I don’t have to sleep on 3 pillows anymore.

  14. It made the week go by too quickly! I’ll regroup next week. I hope.
