Slightly Savory Saturday

From this……..   To this!!!!!!!!Living in North Carolina for 9 + years afforded me the chance to sample all kinds of great BBQ.  Visits to see Micah in Texas found me seeking out even more BBQ.  I love it all.  Imagine my excitement when I realized that I could make some myself in the comfort of my little ole' home with the help of my crockpot and 3 --count them on one hand----ingredients.   It features the favorite beverage of son number 2 whose 26th birthday arrives next week.  So … [Read more...]

My Teenaged Door

Do you remember me talking about my teenaged door?  Let me refresh your memory (or you can click here for a past post about it).  Our front door had acne and a bad case of it at that.  We assume that the previous owners had painted the front door in order to hide the fading wood when they put the house on the market.  But the problem came with what we suspect is the incorrect type of paint that was used at one time on it. When we repainted it awhile back the paint went on fine but then the … [Read more...]

If I Ran The Zoo….

One of my favorite Dr. Seuss books is entitled "If I Ran the Zoo".  In the book the story goes something like this.   Young Gerald McGrew visits a zoo and while he is there he finds that the animals that are living there are just not quite exotic enough.  He thinks that "if he ran the zoo" he would do it a bit differently and have animals that were indeed rare even if they were imaginary. As the book goes on, in true Dr. Seuss style, the animals that young McGrew envisions get crazier and … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

I thought I had featured this little darling a while ago but can't find a post with her being featured so here she is---an adorable Alice in Wonderland teapot from Hilary from Feeling Beachie!!!  She went out of her way to have this special teapot sent to me and I adore her!! She sits next to my Mad Hatter teapot now and they have gotten along just fine, thank you very much. But I try to steal other moments. Sometimes I get up very early in the morning and enjoy a quiet house and cup of … [Read more...]

Ray "Bubba" Sorensen II is on a quest.  To honor our veterans. This likable young man has a gift and a passion to honor every veteran who has served and who has made a difference.  He watched the movie "Saving Private Ryan" and was inspired to do something that would be a unique way of acknowledging their service. What’s App????

A lot of you may know that I love my iPhone.  I have had various iterations of it for years and have loved each and every one just a little bit better.  Currently I am in need of a new one because my camera is wonky on this one and it is driving me nuts.  I can not take any pictures that aren't blurry and that just does not work for me so I have son number 2 working on locating me a new one. Today I was thinking about how much I use my phone and what my favorite apps are and I thought it … [Read more...]

Someone Spoiled the Fun

I  was thrilled last week to see an oriole flitting through my back yard.  I have not seen them here before and so of course I rushed out to buy a platform feeder to put some goodies out specifically to draw them in. My current feeders did not have any tasty treats that they like and I wanted to attract more and more of these lovelies to our backyard. I got the needed items and carefully put the platform feeder and nectar feeder up where I would be able to observe them feasting.  It didn't … [Read more...]
