In case you didn’t see the little NEWS FLASH on yesterday’s post about World Book Night I finished giving the books away in grand style. I went right in my own neighborhood and visited Homestead Assisted Living and happily gave them away to the residents, staff and even a Fed Ex delivery man. It was awesome. I got smiles, hugs and even hand kisses in return for offering a free copy of Garrison Keillor’s Pontoon. I had a fabulous time there and next year I will just start there!!!! Thanks to the Executive Director, Susan Wiley, for welcoming me and being so enthusiastic!
One of my local friends here also stopped in the library and did a little video of me on Wednesday night before I gave away books. Sara blogs over at It’s All In An Iowa Mom’s Day and Travel With Sara as well as having a social media business called Social Connections,LLC. She does a lot of posts for various businesses and the following link to Fisher’s Finds features local “finds”. I was a find!!!! Or rather Wold Book Night 2014 was! Check it out by clicking here!
Oh, I’m so glad you had a positive experience with your book give-away after your initial disappointment. Although nursing homes can be a “sad” place to visit, my mom was in one for 3 1/2 years, and I learned how important it is to visit the residents. I’m sure they enjoyed your visit.
And I am totally with you on your number 2 and number 3 fill-ins!
This facility is really a nice one and since it is an assisted living place the residents have some mobility and a bit more that they can do so that is a nice thing. The staff is wonderful and it made me realize that I should be going over there to visit more often.
How did I not answer #1 with travel – I love traveling! And when I have to get up early for it, I can’t sleep either.
Your book giveaway sounds awesome!
You are a traveler, too!!! Yay! The book giveaway was a win win in the end. I was a little uncertain in the beginning but it all worked out great!
Well, I think I can relate to your answers, except I have never been shy…or shut up. Ha!
🙂 Really?
I am a talker; I have always been a talker. If I am not talking, it is because I don’t feel comfortable.
🙂 Talking is a good thing!!!
My teachers didn’t think so!
I like being outside with my pups except when it is muddy.
I can’t leave my bed unmade when I get up in the morning.
I use to be neat and tidy and now I’m muddy!
If I could I would play with puppies all day.
I am definitely not a shy person however I love to travel and often pack my bags when I can’t sllep.
Judy—great answers!!!! Thanks for stopping by!
Not big on traveling but hope to change that soon! LOVE TO READ. And shyness, has never been a issue for me – I am the “trouble maker”. 🙂
OOh—troublemaker? That is excellent!!! Love to read, too, obviously and isn’t it a great pastime??? Thanks for stopping by !!!
Love seeing you “live” in your video!!! I would have looked like a goof doing that. You looked confident and poised!!!!
Haha! She just told me to talk so I did!! 🙂 I appreciate the kind words—_I felt a little dorky…but then that is normal!
Yeah, to a successful book give-away! Well done, my friend.
You shy? Don’t believe it. Nope, not for a second.
Honest. I really lacked self confidence when I was younger and it was hard for me to step out there. I have come a long ways. 🙂
I have a hard time sleeping the night before a big trip too. And since we usually have to get up early, it is not a good thing. I am usually trying to figure out how to pack all the things, and not forget some prized lovie.
sounds like your book night was a great success – congrats!
Cooperative weather makes everything better. #4 reminds me I’m behind on reading. I thought digital editions might be better, but I still can’t seem to keep up.
🙂
I used to be shy too… now look at me… ugh
Haha! My, how times have changed!!!
