Making Wishes Come True

ClappingIt is March 1st and that means it is time to focus on Comments for a Cause here at It’s Just Life.  If you are new follower (thank YOU!) this is the way it works.  Each month I select a charity or cause to support.  For each legitimate comment on ANY post during that month I promise to make a donation of 50 cents to that cause.  Legitimate = a comment that shows that you actually read the post and actually made a comment relevant to it.   Simple, right?global arts therapy

In February I was thrilled to find Global Arts Therapy which is a wonderful organization that brings arts and music programs as well as sustainable development projects to urban youth in Iowa and Nepal. Samantha Lee Thomas acts as C.E. O. of this wonderful organization and is the enthusiastic and energizing force behind this fabulous cause.  This month I am thrilled to share that with YOUR comments we will be making a donation of $235 to help with their work both in Iowa and Nepal. Thank you to each one of you who has made a comment, shared a post on Facebook or Twitter or passed my blog address along to someone.  I truly appreciate it.

March is here and hopefully this horrid winter is on the way out.  My usually sunny disposition has been tested the past week with more snow and cold and I am over it.  Way over it.  But today I am setting all of that aside to let you know that together we can make a difference in the lives of some very special children.make-a-wish-logo

Thanks to Val from the blog Corn, Beans, Pigs and Kids I have been inspired to choose one of her favorite charities as our next Comments for a Cause—-Make-A-Wish–Iowa.  She wrote a lovely post about their efforts here.   Make-A-Wish Iowa grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  Those wishes can be any of the following:

  • I wish to go..
  • I wish to have…
  • I wish to meet…
  • I wish to be…

In Iowa, a wish is granted every other day.  In the United States, a wish is granted every 38 minutes, and, on average, a child is referred for a wish every 28 minutes.  The average cost for an Iowa wish is $8,600,  Val currently serves as the vice chair of theNorth Iowa Make A Wish chapter and has been involved for over 6 years with the organization.  She has been a vital and important part of the advocacy of this wonderful program and i am thrilled to help support a cause that is dear to her heart also.

Please join me in helping make some wishes come true.  You have heard and seen the stories.  Your heart has been touched.  Now is YOUR chance to continue to make a difference and all it takes is a comment here and there on It’s Just Life.   I promise I will respond to your comment because YOU are important to me.

Thanks so much for the support. In April we will be celebrating 2 full years of Comments for a Cause.  That is a lot of comments and a lot of great causes promoted. Don’t forget to check out the other Comments for a Cause blogs in my sidebar—–they would love the comments as well.

  1. I will be commenting here in March with Make a Wish Iowa on my mind! Great choice Beth Ann.

  2. As always, thank you and Chris for your generous hearts and spirits, Beth Ann. It’s so uplifting each month to read about the cause you funded and the new one you will be funding.

My eldest daughter interned for Make A Wish here in Minnesota. Great organization with a great cause.

    • There are a lot of folks who have spent time with Make a Wish in a lot of different ways. I just had not considered them as a “cause” yet but am glad that I have a connection now!

  3. You can count on my comments this month Beth! Always love to read your post especially “Teapot Tuesday “. The Make a wish donation is a great cause to support…

Great choice Beth Ann! I have a girlfriend whose two children were granted a Make a Wish and the program is absolutely wonderful!

  5. Congrats on almost two full years! Of course look forward to learning about all of the recipients of comments from a cause, but very cool to hear it’s Make A Wish.

    • I think it will be a great cause and I have not really done anything with them before—of course I have heard a lot about wishes being granted but what an amazing thing for Val to actually be a part of making the magic happen! Amazing.

  6. Make-A-Wish is a worthy cause, Beth Ann — I hope you get LOTS of comments and can provide a wish-come-true for someone!

  7. I am so happy that you picked Make A Wish! They are awesome!

  8. I have heard a lot of good things that Make a Wish does for adults and childrens. This is a good cause to support.

  9. The Make A Wish foundation is awesome. I did not know about the local chapters. To bring a smile to a sick child’s face and make their dream come true….well what could be better. Excellent choice! But then your choice is always just perfect.

  10. Make a Wish is dear to my heart. No child should have to go through what many of them do. I love that this cause brings sick children and their families such joy and often a chance of a lifetime.
I’ll be commenting as much as possible and I can talk a lot. I’ll also drop by the other blog and chat it up there! xo

  11. You always pick such wonderful causes Beth Ann. I’m so pleased we were able to help you make a considerable donation to Global Arts Therapy. It is always fun to read your posts and I love being part of your blogging community. Make a Wish Foundation is strong in my part of the world as well. Excellent choice again.
