Today I am a basket case. Or rather–my teapot is a basket case. How adorable is this unique and detailed basket teapot recently added to the collection from my favorite eBay seller? I am not sure how well it will actually pour as there has obviously never been a pot of tea brewed in it. I think it might pour a bit awkwardly but the cute factor makes up for that in my humble opinion.
When the news reporter said “Shopkeepers are opening their doors bringing out blankets and cups of tea ” I just smiled. It’s like yes. That’s Britain for you. Tea solves everything. You’re a bit cold? Tea. Your boyfriend has just left you? Tea. You’ve just been told you’ve got cancer? Tea. Coordinated terrorist attack on the transport network bringing the city to a grinding halt? Tea dammit! And if it’s really serious, they may bring out the coffee. The Americans have their alert raised to red, we break out the coffee. That’s for situations more serious than this of course. Like another England penalty shoot-out. ~Jslayeruk, as posted on Metaquotes Livejournal, in response to the July 2005 London subway bombings
That one is very appealing to me……maybe ‘cuz of the prolonged winter siege we’ve been enduring!!!!!!! Enjoy your sunny warmth!!!!!
Thanks, Doreen! I am loving the sun and warmth already. A bit of exploring today!
Photos to follow, I’m sure! Just to “keep you in the loop” (Ha!!), weather advisories are already posted for Thursday…..rain and snow…..possible 8″!!!!! (really???? ugh!!!!!!). 6″ yesterday!!!!!! Sigh………………….
Are you kidding, Doreen? I had not heard this.
Sigh….yup! Looks like “only” a blizzard” watch for you. Significant winds + 3″-6″ of new snow!!!!!! Is it white enough there yet?????????
I escaped, Doreen! I am sure when we get home it will be to yet another blizzard watch. You keep an eye on things for me, okay?
LOL!
I heard Mason City was going to get hit on Thursday from another friend on FB. Sigh. When will it end?
Oh good grief. This is the winter that never ends, isn’t it? Ugh.
How cute is that!!!! A basket teapot on top of basket. You are WELL-BASKETED, my friend!
Hugs from Ecuador,
Kathy
I am sometimes a basket case, too! 🙂
Good Morning Beth Ann! Cute little basket teapot. Hope you are enjoying your day!
Thanks so much!! It has been a good day! I am out of the snow and any day out of the snow is good!
Can Icome over and see how it pours. I love making a good mess in someone else’s home.
Absolutely. Come on. 🙂
I thought that was a real basket at first! Hope you are having a lot of fun on your first day in tropical paradise:)
Thanks, Jeni! We had a good day. Rode the bus for the first time here and survived. 🙂 It is a bit chillier than I thought it would be but will warm up later on in the week hopefully. But the good thing–no snow.
Someone was very creative making this basket teapot. Enjoy the weather you are having now. We had several inches of snow this morning.
I am enjoying it–it was a little chilly and windy here today but no coat weather so that was nice. We walked our little feet off! Mason City is due for more snow this week so I am sure we will go home to mountains of it.
This one is adorable! I’d serve ice tea from it on a nice picnic lunch. wouldn’t that be cool?
That would be VERY cool!!!! I love that idea!
Hopefully you are no longer a basket case. I mean you sort of were, weren’t you, before fleeing the cold and snow? 🙂
Yes—I was. I suspect I will be when I return, also.
Well, isn’t that pot a cutie? Almost reminds me of an Easter basket. But I’m with you on wondering how it would pour. And yes, tea *does* solve most problems!
I must try it and report back—-It does not seem that it will be one that pours properly but I could be wrong!
Very cute. I love the detail And I hope you are basking in the sun!
Thanks, Katybeth! it was a bit cloudy, windy and cooler today BUT no snow here!!! That is worth it all!!!!
I can’t imagine you haven’t tried the teapot yet – me, I’d do it just to watch it pour!! What a cutie – love it. Enjoy your time away from the snow, cause it’ll be waiting for you!! Spring has to come soon…
Thanks, Marla. I really do need to try every one, don’t I? Maybe that will be my 2014 goal—to make tea in every single pot…..
I know it’s been said, but this is one cute teapot. Have you tried pouring it with just water to see if it works OK. When I sold Teapots, that’s what people would do, ask me to fill it with water and then try pouring from it before committing to a purchase. Of course, if it was cute enough, it didn’t matter.
Oh that is a great idea–then there is not a drop of tea wasted. There are some teapots that just do not work, aren’t there? But those are the ones that are fun to just look at!
This is an unusual one for sure!
Thanks for stopping by, Karen! Hope you are staying warm in chilly and snowy Ohio!
Simply adorable!
Thanks so much!!! I think so too!
That’s a cute keepsake! It will look good among the other teapots!
It is very cute indeed.
That’s a very unique teapot.
Thanks!
