A Few of My Favorite Nativities

I seem to have a collection of nativities as well as teapots.  My sister and I both love them and collect them and though we have never had them together I imagine we could outfit a small church with nativities for every window ledge, nook and cranny.   Here are a few of my favorite ones from my collection in a collage.  If you want to see one  a little bit larger just click on the image.   It should turn it into a slide show.  Enjoy!

  1. What a wonderful collection. I love them all but especially like the one inside the pot.
(For once I’m not the last person to comment) It pays to stay up late.

  2. These are wonderful, Beth Ann. Each one is so distinctive and very special to occupy every nook and cranny of the house. The Willow Tree nativity is D2’s Christmas wish. It’s wrapped up in special nativity paper with a gold ribbon and bow. Can’t wait to see her face on Christmas morning. Merry Christmas, Beth Ann.

    • I need to fill out my Willow Tree set with the rest of the figures —maybe this Christmas ????? Several of them have stories to them —the large wooden one is the one from my father in law’s house that we took when we settled the estate, one my sister’s group made and one was the one we had growing up as kids that my mom let me have already. Great memories.

  3. I hope you get your Christmas wish. I’m sure each one has a story and you must tell them here. When I was in Michigan this summer and visited Bonner’s Christmas store, goodness there were so many.
That is my plan, to fill out D2’s set each Christmas with another piece or two or three….maybe one for her, SIL and GS2. I started my sister on a Fontanini set back in the 90’s and she has a veritable village now.

  4. I did enjoy. It’s probably nice to greet these when December rolls around and you unwrap them from their boxes. What other collections do you have up your sleeve?

  5. I am ever so impressed with your Nativity scenes — I love the fact that they’re all different, yet the same!

  6. You really have some unique and beautiful Nativities, although I do have a fondness for that Charlie Brown one. My mom collects Nativities, too.

  7. Your collection is lovely. I have two nativities one was a gift from Joe’s sister that I just love and one belong to my great grandmother and I just loved setting it up as a little girl. It wasn’t in great shape way back then and today there isn’t a figurine without a crack or piece missing but I can’t bear to part with it. Do you have a favorite?

    • My favorite is probably the one that was ours growing up—- has a dog with a bum leg and baby Jesus is missing. My dad made a little manger out of balsa wood and Jesus was a cotton ball. In all my moves that got crushed( which crushed ME ) so I have a substitute baby Jesus which does not fit but it works . Look for the one with a little dog— that’s the one.

  8. You do have some lovely pieces. I really like the Willow Tree set, the last one is nice, too.

  9. I like the one inside the pot too! Woodstock cracks me up.. 😀 Makes me smile to see your collection tonight!

  10. …And unto the world a King is born!! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Merry Christmas to one and all!!

  11. Amazing! It must look so pretty scattered all around the house at Christmas time!!! I have to admit – my favorite is the Charlie Brown themed one!!! 🙂

  12. I think my mom has that Peanuts one!! ha – she loves Woodstock. I love that one that is inside the pottery, and the blue backdrop is a lovely one too. My nativity scene is the first thing to be put out each season.

  13. Wow, you really do have a lot of them! I have only one – a traditional nativity with the little wooden stable. It didn’t make it out this year since my decorating was so sparse.

  14. What a great collection! I have a small collection of windowsill nativities that I put in my kitchen. The nativity is a great reminder for everyone the reason for the season!

    • I love that you have some too!!! There are so many great ones out there to see. Our church decorates with someone’s collections in the windows which is really beautiful.
