Candy Wrappers, Napkins and Banana Peels

Life with an adult with Down Syndrome is interesting.  I always thought I knew my brother in law, Carlton, but until I actually lived with him for 6 months I did not have a clue.  Not that I got it all figured out after 6 months of living with him but I do understand a lot more than I did before and that is a good thing. We had to have some regular maintainance done on the house and so the HVAC guy came to check things out.  Chris mentioned that the upstairs was always really warm and … [Read more...]

It’s Just Life With Friends

Part of our recent trip was a trip back "home" to Mooresville, NC where we lived for about 9 years.  It seems a long time ago since we moved in 2007 and even though I have been back numerous times Chris has not made the trip with me.  Being the nice guy that he is he funds my trips !   But this time we made it a point to stop for the night there and see some friends and catch up. There is nothing like friends who know you, who have lived through life with you and walked similar paths.  These … [Read more...]

Send the Men in the White Coats

I have developed a fascination lately.  It may not be a healthy one but it is making me laugh. Hysterically at times.  It may be only me but I find goats to be very entertaining.  There are about a million zillion goat videos on YouTube and I may have watched every one of them twice.  My husband's patience is wearing thin.  I suspect this could be a defining moment in our marriage.  The "event" that pushes him to take a serious look at our relationship and make some decisions.  If you don't hear … [Read more...]

North America’s Only Tea Plantation—-And I Got to See It!!!!

One of the reasons we took a recent trip to South Carolina is because I have so wanted to go visit the Charleston Tea Plantation.  It was a fabulous sunny Sunday afternoon and I was in tea heaven!!!  Chris was such a good sport and made this trip happen and I think he actually enjoyed it as much as I did. The Charleston Tea Plantation is the home of American Classic Tea, tea grown in America. It is located on picturesque Wadmalaw Island in the heart of South Carolina's Lowcountry. Its … [Read more...]

Tea Time!

What would a teapot collector love to do????? Go to Elloree, South Carolina to see the World's Largest Teapot and a huge teapot collection!!!  Yes, folks, it is true!  I have the best husband in the world because he indulged me in a recent trip to this fabulous little spot called J's Tea-rific Teapot Museum! Julian Boland is the owner (his wife Sybil did all the arranging) and weeks before my visit I sent him an email.  His son answered me and said that his parents do not "do" email so he … [Read more...]
