Basketball Anyone?

I love to watch basketball and even if I do not know all of the rules I do love to watch a great competition.  Both of our boys played rec ball growing up and I loved to go watch those games.  Aaron was a scrappy little player and even if he was small he hung in there with the big guys.  One time I remember him hanging onto the ball so tightly that another player actually lifted him up off the floor by holding the ball, too!   Pretty funny stuff and while neither boy went on to play in the school leagues they enjoyed a little competition in the rec leagues that they played in.

With a UNC Chapel Hill grad (Micah) and a NCSU grad (Aaron) we always had interesting times when ACC basketball time rolled around.  UNC has always been the leader (until this year!) so I imagine our interest has been to watch their games with more frequency.  I bought tickets to the UNC Maryland game for Chris’s birthday so a couple weekends ago was the match up and a trip to Chapel Hill to watch the game.

We had a great weekend with the boys and the weather on that Saturday turned out to be much better than the rest of our trip.  Nice enough that light jackets were enough to wear to walk to the game in the sunny Carolina weather.  Aaron took one for the team and even though he tweeted that his “skin was on fire just being there” he joined in the fun and even wore the appropriate colors.

The game was great because UNC won (not so in games that followed and especially the one that they played against NCSU where they lost…..) and we had a great time even if the seats were pretty far up in nosebleed heaven.  Of course I took a million pictures and even if the players are tiny —I still was there!

  1. Even if you were in the nosebleed seats, you managed to do a good job capturing the action on the floor. Looks like a fun event for you and “the boys.”

  2. awesome!! you got some fab pics!
When I was going to university in London (Canada), we used to go over the border to watch Michigan games all the time. Was so great – great energy at the games.

  3. You did get a lot of pictures and very good even though you were not close. Glad you had such a good time.

Looked like a fun family weekend! We ventured to that arena with Tara and her high school volleyball team from Danville, VA her junior year of high school to watch a college volleyball game!!!

  5. You got some nice action shots there–not so easy to do with basketball because it’s fast paced!

  6. It looks like you had a great time. Poor Aaron! 😉
