30 Day Challenge—Part 2

Today is the second installment of 30 Day Challenge which I am doing in lumps instead of every day!  I decided that it would be a great Saturday post for 6 weeks so here we go.  You might want to check out my niece Carla’s blog at Random Ramblings where she is also doing this challenge!  I am learning a lot about her that I didn’t know!!!  Plus she is just one neat chica!!!!!

6. My views on mainstream music: Right now I am listening to WowILoveChristianMusic on Spotify but I must admit I have quite eclectic taste when it comes to music.  I love it all–with the slight exceptions being nasty worded rap and too twangy country (sorry, Jake).  I think all music carries such a message and even if the musical renderings are not what I would want to listen to on a daily basis there is still wisdom and talent out the wazoo out there in the land of music.  I am and will always be a music fanatic.

7. Five Pet Peeves —only 5??  That might be difficult.

  1. People who do not think about the words that they say before they say them.  Words can be so destructive and I have seen the harm that they can do.  Once spoken they are very hard to take back.  Damage can be done that will scar someone for life.  Think, people, before you speak!
  2. Those Capcha phrases that are impossible to read in order to leave a comment.  And have you ever clicked on the little speaker to actually listen to what it is that you are supposed to type in??? Try it next time–there is NO WAY on heaven or earth that I can figure out from that garbled mess what I am supposed to type in!
  3. People who use the restroom and do not wash their hands afterwards.  Now I know that we live in a land of hand sanitizer and all but really—-I do not see these people whipping out their little bottle of apple scented Bath and Body Works hand gel once they exit….GROSS!
  4. Poor English like “I seen”.  Yes—I am an English snob.  Sorry.  It grates on my nerves.  Big time.
  5. “Manpris”.   You know those pants that men wear that are neither shorts nor pants……ugh.  Who ever thought those were a good thing to wear?  I have seen plenty in my travels (especially overseas–must be a European thing?) and they look good on NO ONE!!!  Save my eyes and my escalating blood pressure, please.

8.What I ate today–It’s early yet but so far I have enjoyed 2 cups of Keurig brewed coffee, a small bagel with butter and lemon curd and am now working on this delightful cup of pumpkin spiced latte that Savannah made me at the library this morning.  She tried to make a pumpkin on the top—–I think you can figure out it is a jack o lantern…

9.  How important I think education is:  Well that is an easy one!  I think it is vital to have educated people.  I don’t think that everyone needs or has the desire to go to college but I do think that the key to life is to always strive to learn something new.  It does not mean that you have to have to have a zillion degrees but that you try to further your education by every means possible.  Almost every town has a public library (where I am right now) and access to that is free!!!!   Find something that interests you and pursue educating yourself about it.  Teachers are some of our greatest assets and we need to acknowledge that and help make their jobs easier….okay–time to get off my soap box but YES–education is vital.

10. Put your music player on Shuffle and list the first 10 songs:

  1. Back At Your Door—Maroon 5
  2. How Do You Ruin Me—Black Prairie
  3. Loser Like Me—Glee Cast
  4. Man in the Mirror–Michael Jackson
  5. Redeemed–Big Daddy Weave
  6. Somebody That I Used to Know–Gotye
  7. Night Fever—BeeGees
  8. Hallelujah Chorus—Handel
  9. American Pie–Don McLean
  10. Jesus-Friend of Sinners—Casting Crowns

That’s it for this installment!! Come back next Saturday for 5 more!!!

  1. I hate those Capcha phrases. I was trying to purchase concert tickets the other day and I had a time limit and I kept messing it up. I think it finally felt sorry for me and let me spend my own money.

  2. I can totally identify with some of your pet peeves. Even worse in the restroom for me is when women pee on the seat and just leave! How can you walk out like that…like I want to clean up your pee before I go???
The music sounds great. I can’t wait to listen!

  3. So you can take beverages into your library? I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but a pumpkin latte sounds delish.

Pet peeves: I’m with you on all of them except the last because I don’t know what manpris are. I’ve never pretended to know anything about fashion.

    • There is no need to apologize for not liking “twangy” country music…We can work on those later. Let’s stick to the basics for now…You are making great strides..Keep it up. LOL
Oh, and that latte pumpkin that Samantha made for you, ended up looking a bit like “Achmed the Dead Terrorist” one of ventriloquist Jeff Dunham’s puppets..No offense to Samantha..

    • Our library has a coffee shop and a really nice commons area where you can eat and drink. You can take covered drinks anywhere in the library which I think is fabulous. It is very cozy and nice and you can even order lunch !!! I love our library!!!!

  4. Do not even get me started on the Capcha thingys. I swear there is something wrong with me because I can never get them right. Some of them are so distorted I have no clue and have to refresh the pic 1,000 times! 🙂

    • Have you ever listened to them??? It is ridiculous. It is just a continual stream of garbled words—kind of like the visual!!!!

  5. We just got a Keurig machine a couple weeks ago – am loving their coffee. I am a flavored coffee fanatic. My favorite is hazelnut. Keep up the great work with the 30 Questions, your answers are so interesting & I love getting to know you better.

    • I am not a hazelnut coffee fan for some reason–that is about the only one I have found that I don’t like. I don’t always use the Keurig but since hubby was gone I used it since I did not need to brew a pot. But there are so many great options!!!

  6. This is a fun series, Beth Ann. I’m really with you about the poor English. Sara says I’m a grammar snob, but, I suppose, there are worst things one could be snobby about, right?

  7. Education is very important I feel. The newspaper I read prints some comments from people who call in. Some are good, others not so good. They talk about something that they seem to know nothing about. They just say what they think should be done without reading and talking to others about the situation.

  8. Love your music list… so eclectic. And I agree with number 9… I feel like I never stop learning!!! 🙂

    • I do listen to quite a variety!!!! Learning is such an important thing—whether it is a new craft or skill (like your fabulous photography) or stretching the brain a bit by reading something out of the usual comfort zone it is all important!

  9. Your top pet peeve is mine too!

  10. I enjoy a wide variety of music, too, Beth Ann. And can agree with most of your peeves. Manpris?–I may need to get out more. Or not!

I love your comments--each one makes me smile and makes a difference for Comments for a Cause! Thanks!
