Doe Re Mi

We have a sweet doe who is a frequent visitor to our backyard.  She is almost always by herself even though there is a herd of 8 or so that roam through our neighborhood at various times.  She has a bum leg.  It makes me sad.  I think the other deer make fun of her and don't let her play in their (rein)deer games.   So I can not get too upset when she comes to eat out of my birdfeeders.  This particular evening she actually let me get fairly close to her as I went out and sat on the deck … [Read more...]

A Featherweight with Weight

Every once in a while I hear a story that just can not be forgotten.  A story that needs to be written down and shared.  Today is one of those days and I pray that I do it justice.  It is a story about a family whose love and devotion to one another is evident even in death.   I was honored to be able to hear this story and pass it on. The Kline family has been friends of ours for so many years that I cannot imagine not knowing them.  Our parents were friends and our moms had a friendship … [Read more...]

All I Have Left Are Pictures and Memories

Our week at Lakeside on Lake Erie is done for the year and all I have left are memories and pictures.   I have a lot of great ones of both and am going to share a few with you over the next week.  Enjoy the slide show-----just a small sampling of what we saw this past week. Which is your favorite? … [Read more...]

A Boy and His Dog

There are few things in life more precious than seeing a boy who truly loves his dog.  This past week my mom and sister and I were witness to the greatest love I have seen for awhile of that.   We were sitting on a bench by Lake Erie when this young man, probably about 10 0r so, came down with his dog.  To get to the water you have to climb the jagged rocks and they picked their way to the water slowly.  He was trying to coax her into the water and she was a bit timid about it.  Then he made the … [Read more...]

Just Another Day in A Hot Paradise

I am spending a fun filled albeit hot week at Lakeside, Ohio.  It is a fabulous week filled with many happy events--the main one being the ordination of my sister into the United Methodist Church as an elder.  It has been a long road for her---one that has required a lot of both her and her husband. Last night we shared with others as the bishop made it official and what a wonderful time for all of us.  I know my Daddy was smiling down on her.  I am very proud of her. It is also a time to … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday

Today my sister gets ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church!  Family and friends will gather tonight at Hoover Auditorium in Lakeside, Ohio on Lake Erie.  It will be a day of great celebration for a journey that is entering a new phase.  I am proud of my sister!   So it seems only right to feature a cute little teapot that she got me for my birthday this year!  Just big enough for a cup of tea for one---the perfect pot for today! … [Read more...]

Cow Paths and Cat Trails

I have never been a fan of the carpeting that we have in our house.  When we bought the house we thought about changing it but it was in good shape and seemed rather silly and wasteful.  5 years, more renters than we knew we had , a cat who occasionally spits up his Rutin (also known as BRIGHT YELLOW) medicine later and I am thinking more and more that one  of these days we will need to rip it up and replace it. As I was vacuuming today I noticed a phenomenon that I had not thought about … [Read more...]
