I Want to Be Freshly Pressed

My next goal:  to be Freshly Pressed.  For those of you familiar with WordPress you know that this is one of the highest goals to attain. To be featured on Freshly Pressed means instant fame.  Well, maybe not, but it guarantees a lot of clicks and page views and comments.  Freshly Pressed is kind of a display case of blogs that are awesome.  Every day blogs are featured here at this page.  It is a showcase of fabulous blogs of all kinds.  It is an incredible way to find new blogs to follow and see what other folks are writing about.

I know that at least two of my bloggy friends have been featured recently.  Christine at Random Thoughts from Midlife and Kathy from Reinventing the Event Horizon have both been featured.  Actually I think both of them have been featured twice and they are both totally deserving.  I am sure that I have missed several other blogs that I follow that have reached that status and my apologies to them if I have not listed you.  (Blame it on the fuzzy headed allergy medicine head. These two are fresh in my recent memory!)  Both of these above blogs are fascinating and totally different in content which is the beauty of blogging and being part of the WordPress family.  We are all unique and yet—we all fit together in a wonderful patchwork of diversity and interest and passions.  It is the perfect blend!

I have read so many articles and yes, blogs, about how to promote my own blog.  I am doing pretty much everything that I want to do at this point.  I am not willing to make the jump to allowing ads on my blog which is another avenue of attracting more traffic.  I just don’t want that for my blog at this point.  I have cleaned up my pages and made it easier to comment.  I have a brand spanking new logo thanks to my son, Aaron, which is exactly what I imagined.  I visit other blogs and comment.  I try to share the bloggy love everywhere I go.

I have had my brushes with fame as you might recall when I was able to guest blog over at The Idiot Speaketh and when I was featured on a couple of other blogs like One Mixed Bag , Fiction with a Purpose, and Living on Less.  And yet I am unsatisfied!! I want more, I tell you!  MORE!  And I will continue to fill your inbox with posts of cute kitty poses, teapots and family vacations until I attain that goal!!!! Be forewarned!!!

  1. Ah to be pressed. I was actually pressed when my blog was pretty new and I didn’t know what it was. All of a sudden I had a ton of hits on my site and I looked into it. It was a post on my visit to Mark Twain’s house. I wish you luck!!!! I love seeing the kitties, teapots, and so many other things.

    • Oh wow!!! You had fame and didn’t even know it!!!! Congrats!! See, i knew a lot of my buddies had the privilege already!! Will add you to the list and I am totally not surprised!!!

      • I felt like an idiot when it happened…I was such a newbie! I was totally surprised. It think it had more to do with the fact that a lot of people love Mark Twain. I rode his coattails. Hopefully I can’t be sued.

        • LOL I always think about things like that later….oh wait—should I have asked permission??? Did I infringe on something?? Yikes!!! I am sure I have done lots of things out of ignorance that I shouldn’t have done—-I will plead ignorance the entire time!!!!

  2. My friend darcie (belle of the carnival) http://belleofthecarnival.com/ was pressed a few months ago. It was a post that she did a few weeks prior. All of a sudden I saw a flood of comments coming through my email. I was sure she got spammed (as I didn’t know about pressed) and when I saw they were real, I almost fell off my chair. it was amazing…. I too live the dream, but…. you will always be famous / a star in my eyes!

    • You are so sweet!!! I just want all my friends to be Freshly Pressed along with me!!! Boy–if I could pick the perfect day it would have all my blogging buddies and me on Freshly Pressed!!!! 🙂

  3. McGuffyAnn says:

Oh, my…sounds serious, and determination oozes from your blog. But remember you already are great! Look at all of the awards you recently won and your famous status. You are wonderful; we all know that.

  4. Oh, I so want this for you, Beth Ann. You deserve it–big time. And thanks for the shout-out, my friend. I suggest you post this on the WP “Showcase Forum.” At the far left bottom on the FP page is a link to forums, once you get there, go down partway on the left and click “showcase.” I think the WP editors look at that list.
May you very soon be FP!

    • Thank you!!! I never knew that was even there!!! There seem to be others who have posted on there in hopes of the elusive Freshly Pressed fame, too!!! I am not alone!!!! Have a fabulous Thursday, my friend!

  5. Be careful what you wish for. If that happens you will have a multitude of comments to respond to and you may not have the time anymore, for us “little people”…lol

  6. When your head swells up with fame from being so famous, will you still remember us little people who supported you? Love this post & hope your dream does come true very soon – you deserve it!

    • Haha!! Yes—of course I will not forget all of my bloggy friends!!! I doubt it will come and if it does it will be fleeting!!! And that is fine with me!

  7. I just love your blog and I cannot believe the wordpress powers-that-be have not recognized you!! I so appreciate that spotlight because that is how I found Diane, then through Diane, I found YOU! 🙂 Your day is coming friend! ❤

    • Aw…thanks!!! You are too sweet!! And I love your blog, too! Isn’t it just such a great world when you can connect with people and maybe some day hopefully meet them in person????

  8. It’s only a matter of time, Beth Ann. It will be a fortunate charity-of-the-month that will benefit from it, too. 🙂 I wouldn’t do ads, either. Some are unobtrusive and seem ok, but my internet security software warns me about some sites. I had a porn page pop up when trying to visit one friend’s blog recently. It’s not worth it. We have enough commercialism, we don’t need it on our blogs. Stepping off the soapbox now…

    • I liked your soap box.! I just don’t do it to make money (though I suspect my hubby wishes I would make a little bit rather than spending it!!!) so I don’t like the clutter and lack of control that would come with having ads.

  9. Beth Ann, if I know anyone more deserving of being Freshly Pressed it’s you. Just for your comments for a cause you should be… also that could be a double edged sword!!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you and think good thoughts!!! 🙂

  10. Helen Brown says:

Well, I am not a blogger but do admit I enjoy some of them, yours of course!

  11. Good luck Beth Ann. Personally I think a certain measure of luck is needed. I think you’re doing quite well on your own. It seems you have a lot of loyal followers who comment. I enjoy reading your blog. Thanks for the shout out.

  12. Fame is a bad drug. To be Freshly Pressed is to become vaniila. Run away, as fast as you can!

  13. I, too, made Freshly Pressed when I was fairly new at this blogging gig and had no idea what that meant. But all of a sudden I was getting lots more view (1,052 in a single day) on my post about preserving a Minnesota country church (July 7, 2010 post). It was an honor to achieve, especially when I was unaware.

Just continue to write with a passion and, when you least expect it, Freshly Pressed may just happen to you.

Love One Mixed Bag, BTW, which you referenced.

    • That is so awesome! I just am in amazement over how many lof us are out there blogging up a storm! It is pretty amazing and I could spend every waking hour exploring those ! Thanks for taking the time to comment!

I love your comments--each one makes me smile and makes a difference for Comments for a Cause! Thanks!
