YIXING TEAPOTS
Original Chinese, Yixing clay is a red clay found in the Jiangsu province of China that makes an exceptional teapot.
These teapots “season,” which means they take on the flavor of your favorite tea to enhance every cup. But they should only be used for one type of tea (white, green, black, oolong, herbal), since they soak in the richness of whichever type is used.
Chinese Yixing Teapots are considered by some connoisseurs as the best possible way to steep tea.

I love this teapot Beth Ann!!! Just a quick question…..where do you keep all these beautiful teapots?
I have a big hutch and a set of barrister bookcases that most of them are in but some are creeping into other parts of the house. In the house in NC I had a great space above my kitchen cabinets to display them and glass shelves in the entry way where I had a bunch. This house is not as conducive to displaying them but I muddle through!
Okay, Beth Ann, I think this is my favorite teapot so far. Can’t tell you what a fun and creative series I think this is!

That’s a great looking and sounding pot. I like that it soaks up the flavor… I can imagine that over time the tea comes out just so much richer.
An interesting teapot. I have never heard of a teapot being seasoned by the tea.
