I’m Dreaming of…….

Dreams are funny things, aren’t they???  I have always had fairly vivid dreams ever since I was little.  I get that from my mom.  She tells the story of dreaming about fighting with my dad (which if you ever met my daddy you would know that that was next to impossible because he just didn’t fight!) and waking up and just being so mad at him she could hardly stand it.  He questioned her and she told him that she knew it was just a dream but that she was just really mad at him and he had better just leave her alone for awhile.  He was a very wise man and went about his business until she came to her senses.  (Sorry, Mother!).

I pretty much inherited the dreaming gene from my mom and I have the reoccurring ones about the huge house with the massive draperies kind of like a castle where I can’t find the bathroom.  I suspect I dream this one when I have to go to the bathroom!!!   But I have had it repeatedly over the years so who knows.

Lately I have realized that my dreams have evolved to include more of my life events.   As I have alluded to before- sleep in this house does not always go uninterrupted.   Carlton is a night owl, to put it mildly, and his love of all things Power Ranger, Whitney Houston and Golden Girls often interrupts my sleep.  However I can not blame this latest on his nocturnal activities.

My goal in December was a lofty one.  No, it had nothing to do with doing good or devoting myself to the exploration of my spiritual life and the celebration of the Christ Child.   It was to watch all of the episodes of Friday Night Lights.  I loved that show.  I hated that it ended after 5 seasons but I guess it was time.  I am the typical cougar who loves Tim Riggins.  My friend, Ann, and I text back and forth when there is a Riggins sighting. Our eldest son used to live in Austin and actually saw the actor that played Jason Street and said hello to him at some bar.  I was in heaven.  I almost touched a famous person via my son.

But I digress.  I think I love the show so much because it is just real.  Real people.  Real life. Real language like it would actually be said.  So the other night when I awoke laughing I realized that perhaps I have watched too much.  I was dreaming I was at a Dillon Panthers Game and Tami Taylor was my best friend.
We were having a great old time whooping it up and that is what woke me up I guess.

Do your dreams ever take over your life or vice versa?? I would love to hear.

Oh and of course….Texas Forever.

  1. I still haven’t seen the show. I’ll look into it!

    • Netflix has the entire season if you have that! It may not be for everyone but I sure loved it—enough to spend my entire December rewatching it!!! 🙂

  2. I am like your mom, if someone does something I don’t like in my dreams, I find myself mad at them the next day

  3. That Dillon guy…Is just Tom Brady (quarterback for the New England Patriots, of the NFL) when he had long hair and without the cleft chin..Check it out..

  4. That’s funny, I had a similar dream about being mad at my hubby recently. He’s such a sweetie! I have had the recurring dream of being in a public building and never finding the rest room; and I used to have nightmares about someone breaking into my parent’s basement–thankfully haven’t had that one lately.

  5. I have dreams like this as well. I’m not really sure what causes them, but mine tend to be so real that I have mistakenly talked about the events that happened in my dream, to my friend in real life… I usually get blank stares & then I realize that it didn’t really happen. I now question a lot of events or conversations that I have with my friends just to make sure that they really did happen. Lol rather sad isn’t it? Oh but my friends get a good laugh whenever I make that mistake 😉

    • That is so funny that you pick up in real life where your dreams left off!! I think it is a neat thing to have vivid dreams—-maybe others wouldn’t feel that way but I usually wake up happy and with a good feeling as a result of my dreams!!! 🙂

  6. We liked Friday Night Lights too and were sorry it ended. We’re glad Parenthood is still on though.

I don’t dream about TV shows; however, I do dream about blogging and playing sports sometimes. I like when my pets get in my dreams.

  7. I have had this dream every once in a while over the last few months … I think, one or two guys are standing on my side of the bed and I wake up actually screaming. Hubby always wakes up and has to calm me down. The first time it happened I wasn’t quite sure and had to double check with him. Weird…
