99 and Proud of It!

I went bowling tonight.   I don’t want to brag but I took Bowling 101 in college—-oh those good old days at Ohio Northern University.  I have been honing my skills on the Kinect but obviously not enough.   We needed a diversion today —been pretty serious around the old Chiles household and today my sister in law, niece and brother in law and I ventured out to go bowling.  Now my brother in law was pretty good at the game a few years back when he was bowling regularly so I was a little scared.  He has a whole routine before he throws the ball—kind of like a hunter sneaking up on prey.   It has proved to be successful.  Me, on the other hand, not so successful.   I think Bowling 101 was  a few too many years ago.

We had fun, though, and that is what counts.  It was some nice family time that we needed and this provided an outlet.  Hitting bowling pins with bowling balls proved to be a pretty good stress reliever.  Pretty simple—just envision the head of someone you have a conflict with on the front pin and let er rip.  Works like a charm.

Enjoy the pics–and pick up a bowling ball soon.  It may be the best thing you have done in awhile!

Also linking up with Java today at Never Growing Old for her Friday Blog Hop. Thanks!!!  Another great Friday blog is Hilary at Feeling Beachie.

Her questions today are:

1.      When I reflect back upon my life, I regret_______

2.      I over use the word______

3.      The first time I saw the beach/mountains was when I was ______

4.      ________ reminds me of the color yellow.

My Answers:

1.  When I reflect back on my life, I regret that I did not learn to play the piano.

2. I overuse the word ….seriously?

3. The first time I saw the beach was when I was on vacation with my family and we went to East Harbor State Park in Ohio. Now granted it isn’t the kind of lovely beach you think of when you think of North and South Carolina beaches but it was a beach to me!

4. A daisy reminds me of the color yellow.  (That was kind of a hard one to answer)

Comments

  1. Oh, bowling. Nothing in the world makes me feel less coordinated. It looks so graceful and easy and fun when others do it. Sort of like dancing the waltz—but I would need a lot of practice!

  2. How funny – I took bowling in college, too! I remember being timed to see if my ball took the optimal 2.8 seconds to travel down the lane – and I lucked out! Alas, I’ve lost that skill as well. So, any plans to start learning piano?

    • Oh my goodness–we never got timed!!! I think you were in Advanced Bowling!!!! I was just lucky to get the ball down the lane sometimes!!!! And piano??? Maybe!!! My hubby got a Clavinova and it looks like it can “teach” me……there is still time!!! 🙂

  3. I haven’t gone bowling in forever! Looks like loads of fun. Found you via 40 and over blog hop. I’m your newest subscriber!

  4. I regret NOT sticking with the piano longer. Just did not hit it off with Mrs. Morris and there were not a lot of good teacher around at the time. I have not been bowling in years, except for the Wii, which I am pretty good at! LOVE the red ball! 🙂

  5. I would be proud of that score as well. I love to bowl, but am awful. Have you tried Wii bowling? I kick butt and take names on that! *lol*
That color yellow one would throw me off as well. Yikes!

  6. Thanks for playing along this week!!! I haven’t gone bowling in a million years… Now, I want to….I tried to learn the piano (many times) when I was little. But,I soon realized, I don’t have a musical bown in my body!

    • I was scarred for life by having a creepy piano teacher and I cried until my mom let me quit in 3rd grade. Now I wish we could have found someone else! But my husband is patient and I might be able to get him to help me now that we have this Clavinova–we shall see!!! And your new goal for the month—go bowling!!! Have a great weekend!

  7. I’ve never been bowling but have always wanted to try it.
It looks like so much fun.

  8. I’m guessing your ball is the red one. I have several: a purple, a black, and a light blue. My first one was silver but I gave that one away. My husband has two: a red Ohio State one and a dark blue that is very pretty.

I would be very upset if I bowled a 99 but glad you had fun.

  9. Beth Ann says:

Well, it is obvious that you are a serious bowler if you have several balls!!! I, am not! So that explains why I was happy with a 99 and not a 10!!!! And you guessed right!! Red is the color!

  10. pattisj says:

Sounds like you a great time.

I love your comments--each one makes me smile and makes a difference for Comments for a Cause! Thanks!
