I have had so much fun this weekend and part of it was because I read FOUR, count em, FOUR books!!! The weather was so perfect for sitting on the deck with a glass of iced tea reading up a storm so I did just that. Out of the four that I read I would have to say that Motor Mouth by Janet Evanovich was my favorite. I just love her books and have read all in her Stephanie Plum series so I settled in on some of her other ones. This one did not disappoint and to my surprise it centered around … [Read more...]

Pretty Much a Perfect Day!
·It has been a pretty perfect day here!!! We got up early and took a nice bike ride on our brand spanking new Trek bikes bought from Wayne's Ski and Cycle here in Mason City! We are pacing ourselves....doing a little bit more each day.....after all----we aren't youngsters anymore! But it has been great to get out and do a bit of riding and the weather was perfect today for that. After we got back I made Chris's favorite breakfast complete with Spam (light!!!) and as a matter of fact we … [Read more...]

Flying Umbrellas and Iowa Winds
So I bought a new umbrella for the deck today..........I was excited because it fit the area much better than any we had had before. We really just needed a smaller market umbrella and one that matched our chairs a bit better so I found a deal at Target and set it up. Or so I thought! I was calmly sitting on the couch watching "Ellen" --my one addiction right now. I heard a whoooooshhhhhh and suddenly there was no umbrella in the stand!!!!!! No umbrella in the yard, no umbrella in the … [Read more...]
Chapter 8—Abba’s Child by Brennan Manning
Sorry, Sissy, that it took so long for me to get to this chapter but today I am determined to get this post done and move on to the final chapter of the book! I guess we both had a couple of things going on lately!!! Fortitude and Fantasy was the title of Chapter 8 of the book and I was intrigued to see where Manning was going with this one!!! As always, I was not disappointed and came away with new thoughts on things. Manning focused on our need to look to others for approval and … [Read more...]
Rhubarb, Asparagus and Kusina Gold
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax— Of cabbages—and kings— And why the sea is boiling hot—And whether pigs have wings" The time has come for......the North Iowa Farmer's Market in Mason City! Woo Hoo! I am excited!!! I trotted on over to the Kmart parking lot today which is oh so convenient for me! Loaded with a pocket full of dollar bills and change and my favorite trusty Australian green bag in tow I ventured out … [Read more...]
“Little Did They Know”
·Many of you know that I LOVE to read and today I wanted to share a special book with you that I just read. Author, Artist and Friend "Cotton" Ketchie has written several non-fiction books and also now adds a fiction selection to his list of accomplishments. It has been out for awhile but I wanted to wait to get one from him personally so this past week on my adventures I stopped by Landmark Galleries and picked up a copy. It was my "airport book" and it was finished before I knew it! Fast … [Read more...]
